Need a Talladega Transmission?

As long as this site has been up I have never had this happen before. I am always thrilled when a car is Registered that was not previously on the site. However, today I received an email containing the Registration for a Talladega, wait for it, TRANSMISSION!
I wish I could say the car was also Registered and I was able to put the owner with the party selling the transmission but that was not the case. The Talladega is no in our Registry. This is an excellent example of why we need to get every car Registered.
If you own or know where 9A46Q20118 is the car’s transmission was found on eBay.
All the Trans cases (C6) out of Talladega’s I have seen have a pad on them and the vin is stamped by hand into that pad. This vin looks like it is cast on the case as the part numbers on the side.
How would a casting plant know the Vin. number of a unit that …that trans was going in?…..when it was cast? they could not as a Vin. number is started in order as an order and a build sheet are started at the building plant of the car. See Talladega bits for picture of pad and stamping. Or am I viewing picture wrong?
This vin stamp looks correct to me. Justin and I talked to the seller about the case and extension housing if this is the same one. It was a bit too exspensive for us. I hope it finds its way back into the car.
