Bunkie Knudsen Yellow Talladega

I don’t know about you but I never get tired of seeing new photos of Michael Troell’s Yellow Bunkie Knudsen Talladega. Michael recently emailed me some new photos of the car he and Ron took after the 2011 Talladega Spoiler Reunion. It was early Sunday morning and they had just completed a magazine shoot the night before so the car was all prepared for some great shots. The background is the beautiful wooded areas behind the Sevierville Convention Center where the show was held.

Speaking of the Reunion, there are still plans to hold one in 2012 and I recently heard from Jason Thompson that he is working on a couple of options and waiting for NASCAR to finalize the date of the Bristol race so we can confirm that event as well. Jason also wants to know if anyone attending the Bristol on track event would be interested in attending a car cruise in Sevierville the Friday night after the Bristol event. If so contact Jason at: thompsons122@charter.net.

This would also be a good topic for the Forum under Events. If you didn’t know we have now opened the Forum up to anyone interested in the Talladega Family of cars, you no longer need to be a Team Member to participate in the Forum. Our goal is to bring as many Team Members together with potential Talladega Family car owners as possible to share information and questions.

Some of my first and strongest memories from my childhood relate to cars. I still remember when things happened based on what car I was driving at the time. I grew up and lived in Iowa for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California and now live in Tennessee. I was a Corvette fanatic for years but then re-discovered vintage American Muscle. My wife, Katrina, and I decided we wanted to focus on unique and rare muscle cars. After a lot of research we fell in love with the Ford Blue Oval Aero Cars. These were only built in 1969 and and aerodynamics became an important part of winning races. The only purpose of these limited production cars was to win NASCAR races using the Boss 429 and 427 power plants complimented with a special, wind cheating, aerodynamic body. The Ford Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II are terrific and historic cars. This site is devoted to these car and their owners past and present. We provide an Online Registry for recording the long term history and ownership of every remaining Talladega, Spoiler and Spoiler II.
