What Are You Working On? Rob Hunt

Rob Hunt and his family are big Cyclone fans with a special attraction for the Aero Cars. Rob is an active Team Member and also owns AAAA Automotive in Howe, Texas so he has a big restoration leg up on most of us amateurs.
He sent a few photos of his current personal project. It is a Cale Spoiler II that he bought from Rick Toombs. The engine and transmission are done but there is still a lot more to do. The body has been sandblasted. Unfortunately, after blasting he discovered that the passenger fender was a FRANKENSTINE (for those of you who don’t understand technical terms, that means the fender was pieced together from multiple junkyard pieces).
Rob tells me that he was very lucky that Marty Burke found a set of NOS front fenders that Jason Thompson acquired when he purchased the race trailer and parts once owned by Banjo Mathews. The Cale car is now in the paint and body shop.
Hopes are to have the car back in Rob’s shop around the end of October of 2019. That is a big step but then he has to get real serious with lots of elbow grease to finish details and assemble the car.
His goal is to have the Spoiler II ready for the Fairlane Nationals in 2020.

Anyone who knows Rob, knows the passion he has for these cars. This will be a great restoration of a solid car. Can’t wait to see the progress!
I am sure it will be a fine example when it finished . It is in a lot better shape than the junk Doctor Cyclone and I work on .
