Day Two Look?

Don’t get me wrong, I love all original cars and well restored original cars but I also have a thing for modified cars. Back in the day when you bought a new muscle car it didn’t stay original very long. I personally tried to see how quick I could get rid of all those stupid ugly grease pen markings under the hood! I also got a new chrome open air cleaner and of course you had to have better tires and wheels. Also on the list were headers, mufflers, a new sound system and the list went on. Few all stock muscle cars were actually found a year after they hit the street. I personally think it is just a bit boring to go to a show and see nothing but all original cars. I really enjoy seeing some “Day Two Cars”.

If you are not into this description it applies to other wise stock muscle cars that have been slightly modified with date correct non-factory bolt on items. That means, make the car look like it did back in the day once we got the car home and had time to save up enough money to buy stuff. It was not unheard of for guys not to even drive the car out of the dealership without different mag wheels, better stereo and maybe even some custom paint.

I decided it was time to add a little day two flavor to our Cale Yarborough Spoiler. Nothing crazy, just a set of vintage torque thrust wheels with black wall tires. Katrina is a purist and was resistant to the change but I think she even approves.
What are your thoughts? All stock, Day Two or even modified like it was going to the drag strip? If you have a Day Two aero car send me some photos and I will post them on the web site.
