After seeing the Mike Bowers’ trunk restoration Part 1 article, Jim Ozinga asked for a favor. He wants to know if anyone has a source for the “Ford PAINT OK” trunk stamping. If anyone has a source he would really like some information. He is trying to put the final touches on his Talladega prior to the

These stamps did vary among assembly plants. I have not seen the one pictured on any Atlanta cars.

With full respect to you and not questioning your judging skill’s I have this same decal on my original paint Talladega.
I sent a picture to Jim some time in the past….I took these years ago when a friend was restoring his Talladega.
I have chopped two of them down and sent them to Richard in hopes he could post them in Jim’s question section.
I have found that all the body OK stickers were placed on the underside of the trunk lid….that is why I feel a owner who has ok stickers all over under the hood is incorrect. My sticker is cut shorter than Jim’s still you can see the lines going across, the OK and the P and part of paint OK wording. (see picture ) I think what we have here is when the stickers were put on there was no place stated to put them less under the deck lid or trunk lid…. they had a sticky back side and a clear sheet over the sticker it-self that should have been removed when decal was applied they were in a roll and cut by each inspector that is why I fell some shorted or longer by a bit from sticker to sticker. If the inspector did not pull the protective cover off after the stick was applied you would get what Jim has and I also have on my T…. Like I said these were taken years ago ….but when weather gets better we will get T out so I can get a better picture….Sorry when we put them away for winter it is hard to get to them !!!!!

No issue at all as we are here to learn. Yes I agree that the paint sticker goes in trunk as I have seen many original cars like this. What I haven’t seen on Atlanta cars is the wording overlay that is pictured. I know that Metcutchen (sp) used the wording stamp and not the P sticker.
It’s amazing after almost 50 years we still are finding great details about these cars
