What Are You Working On? Rob Hunt and Marty Burke

As much as we all love our cars it is the other car folks that most of us cherish above the cars. The cars are exciting but they are the means to meet others like ourselves. They are memory machines that help us recall fond memories from the past as well as make great new memories for the future.

We previously told you about a new project Talladega that Rob Hunt acquired and did a marathon road trip to pick it up and return it to Oklahoma. As you might remember Rob had some questions if the Talladega was going into storage to await a full restoration or be cleaned up and driven. The car was reasonably sound but had an incorrect 390 engine. It seems the decision has been made and he wants to drive the car. He just sent us some great photos and some additional information. Below, is his edited words about “What he is working on.”

Here are some shots of Marty Burke and I building the new engine for my white Talladega. It is a fresh .030 bore with a standard crank, ARE rod bolts with the complete assembly balanced. Machine work was done by Wayne Calvert Precision Machine in Fenton Texas.  It sure was fun building a Cobra Jet with a guy that has several NHRA records and Wally’s (The Wally is the trophy awarded to winners of an NHRA national event.)  in his trophy case. It was a Fun Saturday morning for both of us.
