Ok, forgive me! This isn’t a Talladega or a Spoiler II but it is a Ford and it is ours! Katrina and I were fortunate enough to be asked if our 1965 Thelma and Louise style Thunderbird could be used for a commercial. We said yes, but when I showed up on set with the car I was blown away at all the security and star motor homes on the set.

Everyone you see in the video was on set with the exception of the “Donald”.

Forgive me for my transgression away from the Aero Cars but thought you might like to see the video that opened the CMT Awards with Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Kid Rock, Ron White and Kenny Rogers. Katrina and I were thinking of selling the TBird after owning it for 10 years but think maybe we will keep it a little longer. Enjoy our cars 10 minutes of fame.

Richard

Some of my first and strongest memories from my childhood relate to cars. I still remember when things happened based on what car I was driving at the time. I grew up and lived in Iowa for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California and now live in Tennessee. I was a Corvette fanatic for years but then re-discovered vintage American Muscle. My wife, Katrina, and I decided we wanted to focus on unique and rare muscle cars. After a lot of research we fell in love with the Ford Blue Oval Aero Cars. These were only built in 1969 and and aerodynamics became an important part of winning races. The only purpose of these limited production cars was to win NASCAR races using the Boss 429 and 427 power plants complimented with a special, wind cheating, aerodynamic body. The Ford Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II are terrific and historic cars. This site is devoted to these car and their owners past and present. We provide an Online Registry for recording the long term history and ownership of every remaining Talladega, Spoiler and Spoiler II.

  1. Dear Richard and Katrina,

Congratulations! Even though it would have been great to have seen them cruising around in your Talladega, it was great to see them in your T-Bird ragtop. Face it, for a Thelma & Louise spoof, the Talladega would not have worked.

You make the rest of our cars all green with envy. My Talladega will be stuck with my butt behind the wheel instead of Shania’s! Don’t be alarmed if your car refuses to move for you after this, Richard…

    Congrats!
    Carl.
