Vintage “Cyclone” Competition Sticker

We recently showed you some old marketing materials Mercury used to promote the Mercury Competition Team. We also told you we planned to reproduce the “Cyclone” sticker and make it available to you for at a reasonable cost. Well, we just received our first batch of stickers and decals and we are thrilled with the results! If you are looking for the perfect vintage addition to make your Cyclone stand out at the next event this is it.

Two versions are available and both are the same size. They measure a full 9 inches long and 3.5 inches tall; just the right size for the center of your back window or side rear window just like we did back in the day. I have a Drag Pack Dan Gurney Spoiler and one of these is going right next to the original “Class Winner” decals from a couple of drag strips.

This is a reproduction of the vintage Mercury Cyclone Drag Club. It measures 9" long by 3.5" tall.

We have two versions of this time capsule item. The first is just like the original and is a bumper sticker like outside sticker. It peals off the background paper and will stick to your window, bumper or what ever smooth surface you want to stick it to. The first one costs $9.50 and for each one after that they cost $8.50 each.

The second one is identical but is a “cling” style decal and the colors are not quite as sharp but you would have to have the two next to each other to see the difference. It is designed to stick to any smooth surface as well but does so by static cling so it can be removed and placed again. It is intended to be used on the inside of a window. This one costs $6.50 for the first one and $5.50 for each additional one.

Some of my first and strongest memories from my childhood relate to cars. I still remember when things happened based on what car I was driving at the time. I grew up and lived in Iowa for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California and now live in Tennessee. I was a Corvette fanatic for years but then re-discovered vintage American Muscle. My wife, Katrina, and I decided we wanted to focus on unique and rare muscle cars. After a lot of research we fell in love with the Ford Blue Oval Aero Cars. These were only built in 1969 and and aerodynamics became an important part of winning races. The only purpose of these limited production cars was to win NASCAR races using the Boss 429 and 427 power plants complimented with a special, wind cheating, aerodynamic body. The Ford Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II are terrific and historic cars. This site is devoted to these car and their owners past and present. We provide an Online Registry for recording the long term history and ownership of every remaining Talladega, Spoiler and Spoiler II.
