50th Anniversary Photos

Several weeks ago I asked for reader contributions of photos and stories about cars from the 1969 time period. The response has been totally absent of any contributions. I can’t be the .only one with old photos and stories.
I am putting up a couple of photos from my archives in hope they will stimulate your contributions. If not, then I will need to dig a little deeper and start using some of the winged car photos I have. After all, the Talladega and Spoiler II were responsible for putting the Charger 500 to bed and bringing the winged Charger Daytona to life. Thus the Aero Wars began!

The 50th Anniversary Celebration at Talladga will see 150 or so of these Aero Warriors once again camped out at the Super Speedway. If it is like the prior events, the winged cars will out number the Ford/Mercury models 3 or 4 to 1. Do not be intimidated by this. Virtually all winged car owner are respectful and many also own one of the Ford models. They also realize if it were not for the Talladega and Spoiler II their cars would have never been built.

Remember if you don’t send me some Ford product images and stories from back in the day you will see some of the MOPAR images from that period.
