2016 Talladega Family Reunion: THIS IS BIG!

I have a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! I have finally been able to confirm that the 2016 Talladega Spoiler Family Reunion attendees are going to be able to attend our own private tour of one of America’s best private car collections (I believe there are over 150 cars in this collection)! I have not yet seen this collection myself but have visited the property previously and seen the previous owner’s collection. Believe me this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have had to rearrange the entire weekend schedule to make it happen but it is worth it. You will not be disappointed, unless you don’t attend! The attached photos are from my previous visit to this estate.

Early Friday morning we will leave the hotel in Murfreesboro and drive for approximately one hour to meet up with a friend who made the visit possible. He and his wife will then escort our group to an estate you will remember for the rest of your life. Our private tour will begin at 9:30 and we will then be in car Disneyland!

I am now feverishly reworking the details for the rest of the weekend. The activities will include a driving tour to a working distillery, catered dinner at our home with time to play with miniature donkeys, tour of our small collection of Aero Cars and memorabilia, plus a “drive-in movie movie night”, restoration workshop, discussion of other special up coming events, and more!

  2. Friday. August 5th, is our Tour of the private car collection.
  3. Saturday, August 6th, will be the driving tour to the Short Mountain Distillery and the movie night.
  4. Sunday, August 7th, is for brief goodbyes and for you to extend your stay in Nashville or to begin you return travel to your home.

If you have not done so, please let me know you will attend and make your reservations at the hotel. There is no cost for the Reunion or the meal at our house. However, our special rate at the host hotel may have expired. You may have to pay a little more or shop around for another hotel in Murfreesboro.

I will be providing maps and schedules to all attendees. If you are one of our Team Members and want to spend a little extra time in nearby Nashville we are happy to store your trailer on our property at no cost for up to a week prior to or after the Reunion, space permitted and you must reserve it a head of time.

Tom Wilson will be attending and if you want him to “stamp out” some patch panels for your Cyclone and you let him know in time he will deliver them at the Reunion. I will give more details on this in a couple of days. He is now working on lower quarter panels for Cyclones with more to come!

Some of my first and strongest memories from my childhood relate to cars. I still remember when things happened based on what car I was driving at the time. I grew up and lived in Iowa for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California and now live in Tennessee. I was a Corvette fanatic for years but then re-discovered vintage American Muscle. My wife, Katrina, and I decided we wanted to focus on unique and rare muscle cars. After a lot of research we fell in love with the Ford Blue Oval Aero Cars. These were only built in 1969 and and aerodynamics became an important part of winning races. The only purpose of these limited production cars was to win NASCAR races using the Boss 429 and 427 power plants complimented with a special, wind cheating, aerodynamic body. The Ford Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II are terrific and historic cars. This site is devoted to these car and their owners past and present. We provide an Online Registry for recording the long term history and ownership of every remaining Talladega, Spoiler and Spoiler II.
