Lithuanian Talladega Follow Up

Few articles generated as much new information as the one on the Lithuanian Talladega a few days ago. To date the most interesting information as come from our Team Member Kjell Rygge of Norway. Almost instantly Kjell forwarded to us the original article that was referenced in our Post. He also included some great additional photos of the car from its racing days.

I have included the article and some of the photos. Now if more of you can come up with additional information I will run it right here. What I can’t understand is here is a car in Lithuania that used to race in the UK after leaving the US and a fellow in Norway comes up with all this good information and I have been trying for three years to get someone to help me find some racing photos of our SCJ Dan Gurney Spoiler from up in the NJ area and have had no luck! LOL!

Linas, the current owner, also provided the following additional information since our original post.

“I found out, that my car back in the day was running with “exotic” Holley 3916 three barrel 950 cfm carb, which always had this NASCAR or hot rod image around it. I was lucky enough to locate one rebuilt Holley 3916 in UK, dated for late 1969. I will reunite it with the car, since at the moment it has some generic Holley 4698, which is not in a good shape at all.”

Some of my first and strongest memories from my childhood relate to cars. I still remember when things happened based on what car I was driving at the time. I grew up and lived in Iowa for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California and now live in Tennessee. I was a Corvette fanatic for years but then re-discovered vintage American Muscle. My wife, Katrina, and I decided we wanted to focus on unique and rare muscle cars. After a lot of research we fell in love with the Ford Blue Oval Aero Cars. These were only built in 1969 and and aerodynamics became an important part of winning races. The only purpose of these limited production cars was to win NASCAR races using the Boss 429 and 427 power plants complimented with a special, wind cheating, aerodynamic body. The Ford Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II are terrific and historic cars. This site is devoted to these car and their owners past and present. We provide an Online Registry for recording the long term history and ownership of every remaining Talladega, Spoiler and Spoiler II.
