Fairlane Club of America Judging Forms

I have been shocked at how many requests we have had in just the last couple of months for information on how to correctly restore one of our cars. These questions have not been limited to the Talladega they have also included the Spoiler and Spoiler II. This tells me that owners starting restorations on these cars are now much more concerned with doing them back to factory correct specifications and not just to drive on the street. Recent blips upward on values reinforce this trend to do it right. In today’s market the cars bring the big money are the all original unrestored cars and those restored to the highest level of correctness.

One of our own Team Members, Marty Burke, has been working hard with the Fairlane Club of America at assembling correct Judging guidelines and forms for the 68/69 Ford and Mercury intermediate sized cars. These are used by the Judges to award and record points for the cars at that Club’s shows. The forms can also be an excellent starting point when planning and executing your car’s restoration. With Marty’s permission we have copied those forms over to our site and are making them available to all for reference. You can view them by Clicking Here.

We have also had a lot of questions asked on the Forum and through emails about factory markings found on cars and what are the correct casting numbers and part numbers. It is our intent to bring these Q&As over to the main page with their own header button at the top of the page. We will let you know when these are up and available. Some of my first and strongest memories from my childhood relate to cars. I still remember when things happened based on what car I was driving at the time. I grew up and lived in Iowa for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California and now live in Tennessee. I was a Corvette fanatic for years but then re-discovered vintage American Muscle. My wife, Katrina, and I decided we wanted to focus on unique and rare muscle cars. After a lot of research we fell in love with the Ford Blue Oval Aero Cars. These were only built in 1969 and and aerodynamics became an important part of winning races. The only purpose of these limited production cars was to win NASCAR races using the Boss 429 and 427 power plants complimented with a special, wind cheating, aerodynamic body. The Ford Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II are terrific and historic cars. This site is devoted to these car and their owners past and present. We provide an Online Registry for recording the long term history and ownership of every remaining Talladega, Spoiler and Spoiler II.
