Talladega and Spoiler II Return to Bristol Motor Speedway!

You read that correct. This June you will have the opportunity to drive your Talladega, Spoiler II or Spoiler on the Very High Banked Bristol Motor Speedway! If you have never been to the Bristol Speedway let me tell you it is a big deal. The first time you see that facility and walk into the stands or stand on the track you feel like you entered the Roman Coliseum! You are completely surrounded by stands the track is banked like the side of a building! Unless you absolutely hate cars and racing it will take at least a week for the smile to leave your face!
This year at the Talladega Family Reunion which will be held as part of the larger Fairlane Club of America’s National Show weekend we will all have an opportunity to circle the “Fastest Half Mile in the World”. No, we will not be turned loose to do hot laps. When? June 26-28th.
You must be a member of the Fairlane Club of America to attend. You should belong to this Club anyway! Registration and details will all come from them. We will keep you up to date but please join FCA and register with them for the event. They also have lots of other activities you will want to participate in.
Here is what their President, Doug Bender, sent to me.
Groups of 10 cars at a time will hit the track led by the Bristol Motor Speedway pace car. In 2010 I think they led us around the track at 70-75 mph tops, probably more like 60-65? No lagging aloud to get a nice run. It’s a good time and the members love taking their mid-sizes around the track. FYI – only car registered or intend to be registered for the show may participate. A member cannot show up in their Fusion and take laps.
The cost will be an additional $40 to take the laps. They may even try to put the Aero Cars in our own group for the laps! Details will be in the next Fairlaner Magazine that goes out to all Members of FCA.
